Jewelry of the Sacred Center

celtic CatsIn visual mythology whenever two animals come together, the place where they meet is energized. It may contain a tree, a column, a fountain, a goddess, or simply a space, but it always represents the center and origin of the world. This space can be called the Anima Mundi (World Soul), the Axis Mundi (World Axis), or the Tree of Life. In mythology, It is the place where the hero ascends to the heavens (the spirit) or descends into the underworld (the unconscious). On an internal plane the Sacred Center is where we go when we meditate. These brooches are designed to remind the wearer that sacredness is found inside, and to act as an aid to finding ones center.

By eating its tail, it visually describes the cyclical nature of time. Related circular symbols for the boundaries of time and space can be found in most cultures, including those of northern Europe, and the Tree of Life or World Tree can be found in the center of this space.
